Chez Cocotte

A truly excellent experience! We came with my family on July 14th for my birthday, having made a reservation. The servers were very welcoming, and we appreciated the service. For our meals, we ordered prepared tartares, Caesar salad with fries as an extra, and lobster rolls. Everything was delicious, and the portions were very generous. The restaurant is spacious and bright; you don't feel crowded at all. The service was quick. We shared our desserts as we weren't very hungry anymore, and the lemon/yuzu dessert was a hit with everyone, especially the scoop of ice cream on top. Thank you again for this wonderful experience; we will gladly return.

The same thing, but simpler, would be perfect! We had duck with red berries and sweet potato, but the combination of the three wasn't good. And the other option was raw salmon, so meh.

This place is great been here three times and love the food. Had my first steak tartare and bone marrow and it was delicious.

Traditional dishes prepared with care, a popular but relatively quiet establishment. Warm and attentive staff. Pleasant setting. Price range: €30-40 for an aperitif, main course, dessert, and coffee. Good value for money, I recommend it.

Ground floor dining room, nice decor. The "food" was very mediocre. We wanted to treat ourselves to a lobster roll. It was more like a supermarket coleslaw with surimi. All of it served in two thick slices of dry brioche bread. For the modest sum of €28... which left a bad taste in our mouths. The service was very slow. The cocktail was too sweet. Avoid at all costs! It was the first and last time. We were expecting a good time... but it was ruined because it wasn't good and it was very expensive.

Very slow service for expensive dishes of mediocre quality…the cocktail was too sweet. But the dining room is lovely. It's a shame they put so much into the decor and not into the quality and taste of the food.

Passing through Poitiers, like many others, I searched online for restaurants in Poitiers, looked them up, and then came. I have absolutely no complaints. The welcome was very pleasant, the food was delicious. I had the pork pluma, which was excellent—perfectly cooked meat with a lovely, slightly spicy jus. The lemon dessert was impeccable. Located right in the heart of the city center, with easy parking, it was a very pleasant experience on a Friday evening, the night before the Fête de la Musique. I highly recommend this place.

A wonderful discovery at Cocotte! We started with a platter of cecina beef as a starter, absolutely delicious. The meat was tender, melt-in-your-mouth, and bursting with flavor. For our main course, we shared a 40-day aged Aubrac ribeye steak, cooked to perfection. The quality of the meat was exceptional: tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The Caesar salad was generous and perfectly dressed. The welcome is warm, the service attentive without being intrusive, and the restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere. A must-visit for meat lovers in Poitiers.

Second time at this restaurant, and I was truly disappointed. The first time, the starter was very good: raw sea bass with a light sauce. Compare the two plates for €14—it's outrageous. The second time, we only got three tiny bites. The first time, the portions were decent. Some pieces were thicker than others, although it's not immediately obvious in my photo, but the quantity was adequate. The side dish, however, was really bad. The vegetables were completely bland, with no seasoning whatsoever. I think they were simply steamed. The meat was served with a sauce that was supposed to be chorizo, but you couldn't taste it at all. It added no flavor and didn't enhance the rest of the dish. The dessert was a dry, extremely hard cookie stick. The ice cream was okay, nothing special. All this for the modest sum of €46. The second time, the starter was very disappointing, both in terms of quantity and presentation. Just look at the ridiculously small amount of sauce in the two photos. I politely pointed this out to the waiter when he asked if everything was alright. According to him, the menu proportions had changed between our two visits, which were only two or three weeks apart. I hope the prices have dropped as much as the portions. :) Fortunately, the main course was very good and well-balanced this time. We didn't order dessert after our first experience. In the end, we left feeling unsatisfied and disappointed. I do not recommend this establishment. For comparison, other restaurants offering a more varied menu, updated seasonally according to local produce, are better, less expensive, and of higher quality, without the portion sizes suddenly changing from one week to the next, at least according to the "explanations" provided.
